1. Members must be enrolled in project unit. The exhibits must be articles that correspond with project unit they are enrolled in this year.
2. All exhibits must be correctly and completely labeled before entering.
3. Exhibitors may enter 3(three) entries for each project enrolled in, but only one per class.
4. Exhibits must be entered Wednesday afternoon, August 27, 2008 - 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.
5. Entries must be picked up Monday afternoon, September 1, 2008 - 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
6. Only listed exhibits will be accepted and must be either constructed or raised by the 4-H members in the 2007-08 project year.
7. No article can be listed for sale.
8. Clover Kids are eligible to exhibit in the 4-H building for ribbons only.

Where the exhibit list states, "any item made", the 4-H member may display any item made in that project This includes notebooks, file cards, photo displays, posters, or educational displays. Regardless of project, the following dimensions must be used:

*Poster - No larger than 14" x 22"; flat only; do not fasten three-dimensional items to the poster.

*Photo display - All photos should be mounted on an 11" x 14" white or off-white mount board, either horizontally or vertically. No writing or labels on the mount board. Margins are at the discretion of the photographer. A permanent mount must be made using photographic adhesive. Comer mounts are not allowed. They will ultimately let the picture fall out of the mat. No photos using glass and/or wooden, brass, plastic frames, etc. Photos can be matted with a single window mat if appropriate. Double mats are not acceptable due to the thickness of the mat materials. To protect exhibits from dust and moisture, it is strongly recommended that photos be placed in a two-gallon zip-lock-style bag.

*Educational Display- Must not exceed 11" in height, 12" in depth (front to back) and 14" in width. Must include three-dimensional items and stand alone. (Posters with items taped to them do not qualify as an educational display.)

*Entomology or Geology display boxes - Box must be exactly 18" long x 24" wide and 3-1/2" deep to fit in display racks. Plexiglas or plastic covers are preferred.

*Working models or displays - Items such as model wildlife plots, cut-away engines, or other similar displays should require floor space no larger than 22" x 28".

*Decorated Cakes - The use of forms or pans is recommended. When multi-tiered cakes are made, send only the top layer of the cake. Space is not available for large multi-sectioned cakes. Cake boards should not exceed 1" margin on each side of cake pan or form. Must use Royal Icing or Rolled Fondant only. (No real cakes or butter crème icing - displays containing these items will be considered ineligible and will be rejected.)

FOOD NUTRITION

Exhibitors must adhere to the following rules:
1. Food must be of reasonable quality to keep more than a week. Do not send food items which will spoil quickly such as casseroles, pizza, cream pies; items made with cream cheese, etc.
2. Display food items on paper or disposable plates. Plastic wrap will be removed so drying of the food will extend display life of the product and food items will be removed from plates and displayed as part of a bakery display. Individual tags will be displayed separately. Please do not send expensive or keepsake containers!
3. No samples are needed with any food exhibits.
4. Perishable food exhibits do not need a second identification label.
5. Biscuits, cookies, muffins and other small items should be four (4) per plate. Cakes should be exhibited in miniversions (portions of 1/3 to 1/4 of a larger total product) A representative sample of each will be displayed.
6. Decorated cakes will be exhibited in the cake decoration project.

FOOD PRESERVATION

For safety reasons, all Food Preservation items must follow these rules:
1. Canned goods/preserved items must follow University of Missouri Columbia guidelines for processing.
2. Each exhibit must be accompanied by an index card or label which outlines procedures and recipes used in processing and date of processing.
3. Any sign of spoilage or alteration from standard processing guidelines will be the basis for disqualification of the exhibit. Information on standard procedure is available from County University Extension Centers.
4. No food should be sampled by judges at local judging.
